Renewal:
All of humanity has been created in the Imago Dei, the image of God himself. This image was and is very good at its root level (see Genesis 1), but with mankind's decision to reject God, brokenness entered into the world. This action corrupted all of creation, including and especially mankind's relationship with God. We are all then in need of renewal in our relationship with our Lord, and through Jesus Christ the impossible becomes possible: A new beginning, a new relationship, and new life. Grace Street exists to make this truth known to the entire world.
Re-formation:
New life in Jesus Christ is both a state of being and a process. It is what a follower of Christ both commits to and possesses. Though we are all made in the Image of God, becoming more and more like Jesus is a life-long endeavor. We are committed to this process of re-formation, of being re-shaped into a person that resembles Jesus in our love for the Father, and in our love for the entire world. Grace Street is a community that is learning what it's like to see our soul, our mind, our emotions, and even our physicality (what it means to be a human of flesh and blood) resemble those of Jesus Christ.
Restoration:
We believe that the missio dei or mission of God is restoration. To "restore" is to bring back to a state of health, vigor, or original intent. This was and is a central piece to the message of Jesus Christ; to fix what has been broken (Luke 4:17-19). Every person's life and every other part of creation each have the potential to be restored to spiritual, emotional, and physical health. Grace Street encourages followers of Christ to actively play their parts in seeing that the restorational power of Jesus Christ is brought to the lives and systems of the Cities of Cambridge and Boston, their colleges, institutions, communities, businesses, and environment. Therefore, our commitment is to see Cambridge and eventually the world "restored" to its most reflective state of God's goodness.
